Data Collection on this Website

Who is responsible for data collection on this website? Data processing on this website is carried out by the website operator. You can find their contact details in the section “Notice Concerning the Responsible Party” in this privacy policy.

How do we collect your data? Your data is collected, on the one hand, by you providing it to us (e.g., by entering it into a contact form). Other data is collected automatically or with your consent when you visit the website by our IT systems. These are primarily technical data (e.g., internet browser, operating system, or time of page view).

What do we use your data for? Part of the data is collected to ensure the error-free and secure provision of the website. Other data may be used to analyze your user behavior (for this, we exclusively use privacy-friendly, self-hosted solutions without personal reference, see below).

What rights do you have regarding your data? You have the right to receive information about the origin, recipient, and purpose of your stored personal data free of charge at any time. You also have the right to request the correction or erasure of this data. If you have given consent to data processing, you can revoke this consent at any time for the future. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.

External Hosting and Security Services

This website is hosted externally and protected by security services. We use the following services:

We use Cloudflare for multiple purposes:

  1. Hosting & CDN: Delivery of the main website via Cloudflare Pages.
  2. Security & Bot Management: Protection of the website against DDoS attacks, abuse, and automated traffic.
  3. Cloudflare Turnstile: A privacy-friendly alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs, distinguishing human visitors from automated bots without using invasive tracking methods.

Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which has been recognized by the European Commission as an adequate level of data protection for data transfers to the USA. To ensure data protection-compliant processing, we have concluded a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Cloudflare.

Processed Data and Cookies: To ensure the security and stability of the website, Cloudflare sets technically strictly necessary cookies. These include:

  • __cf_bm: This cookie is used to detect and mitigate bot traffic. It expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, is generated separately for each website, and does not allow cross-site tracking.
  • cf_clearance: This cookie stores the proof of a successfully passed security challenge (e.g., via Turnstile) to avoid repeated challenges for the user and to enable access to the origin server.

Additionally, Cloudflare Turnstile processes minimal client-side signals (such as IP address, User-Agent, and TLS fingerprint) to distinguish humans from bots. Legal Basis: The processing of this data and the setting of these technically strictly necessary cookies are based on our legitimate interest in the security, stability, and abuse prevention of our website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Since these cookies are technically indispensable for the secure operation of the website, no separate consent is required pursuant to Section 25(2) No. 2 of the German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG).

To ensure data protection-compliant processing, we have concluded Data Processing Agreements (DPA) with the respective providers or utilize their standardized DPAs.

3. Data Collection on this Website

Waiver of Persistent Server Log Files (Privacy by Design)

Our infrastructure is configured to be privacy-friendly. Neither our hoster Hetzner (for the analytics instance) nor Cloudflare Pages collect or retain classic server log files that store personal data (such as full IP addresses) on a persistent basis. Insofar as connection data is generated briefly as part of technical provision, it is not evaluated in a personal manner, not merged with other data, and regularly discarded automatically. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in the security and stability of network operations (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Web Analysis with Plausible Analytics (Self-Hosted)

We use Plausible Analytics on this website in a self-hosted instance on our own server at Hetzner (Germany). This is a particularly privacy-friendly, open-source alternative to conventional analytics tools.

Why this is privacy-friendly (according to the official Plausible Data Policy):

  • No cookies or persistent identifiers: Neither first-party nor third-party cookies, browser cache, or local storage are used.
  • IP addresses are not stored: The IP address is used exclusively for a brief moment to derive the approximate country, region, and city (e.g., “Germany”). The IP address is then immediately and irrevocably discarded.
  • No tracking across days: To count unique visitors, a daily salt value that changes every 24 hours is used (hash(daily_salt + domain + ip + user_agent)). Identifying or tracking individual persons beyond a single day is technically impossible.
  • No data transfer to third countries: Since we operate the instance ourselves on our server in Germany, your data does not leave the European legal area.
  • No sharing with third parties: The data is processed exclusively by us and is not shared with or sold to third parties.

Legal basis: Since no personal data in the strict sense is stored and no cookies are used, no separate consent (no cookie banner) is required for this. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in the statistical, anonymized analysis of user behavior to optimize our web offering (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Inquiry via Email or Contact Form

If you contact us via email or contact form, your inquiry, including all resulting personal data (name, inquiry), will be stored and processed by us for the purpose of handling your request. We will not pass this data on without your consent.

The processing of this data is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, if your request is related to the fulfillment of a contract or is necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures. In all other cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of the requests addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), if this has been requested.

The data sent by you via contact requests will remain with us until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent to store it, or the purpose for data storage ceases to apply (e.g., after your request has been fully processed). Mandatory statutory provisions, in particular statutory retention periods, remain unaffected.

Data Protection

The operators of these pages take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy. We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g., when communicating via email) can have security vulnerabilities. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.

Data Retention Period

Unless a more specific storage period has been stated within this privacy policy, your personal data will remain with us until the purpose for data processing ceases to apply. If you assert a legitimate request for erasure or revoke your consent to data processing, your data will be deleted, unless we have other legally permissible reasons for storing your personal data (e.g., tax or commercial law retention periods); in the latter case, deletion will occur after these reasons cease to apply.

If you have consented to data processing, we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR or Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, if special categories of data are processed. In the event of explicit consent to the transfer of personal data to third countries, data processing is also based on Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. Consent can be revoked at any time. If your data is required for the fulfillment of a contract or for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, we process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Furthermore, we process your data if this is necessary for the fulfillment of a legal obligation on the basis of Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR. Data processing may also be based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Recipients of Personal Data

We only pass on personal data to external bodies if this is necessary for the fulfillment of a contract, if we are legally obliged to do so (e.g., passing on data to tax authorities), if we have a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in doing so, or if another legal basis permits the data transfer. When using data processors, we only pass on personal data on the basis of a valid Data Processing Agreement.

Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke consent that has already been given at any time. The legality of the data processing carried out until the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.

Right to Object to Data Collection in Special Cases and to Direct Marketing (Art. 21 GDPR)

IF DATA PROCESSING IS CARRIED OUT ON THE BASIS OF ART. 6(1)(E) OR (F) GDPR, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA AT ANY TIME ON GROUNDS RELATING TO YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION; THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING BASED ON THESE PROVISIONS.

Right to Data Portability

If you request the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will only be done insofar as it is technically feasible.

Right to Restriction of Processing

You have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data. This is possible in the following cases:

  • If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data stored by us (for the duration of the verification).
  • If the processing of your personal data was/is unlawful (instead of erasure).
  • If we no longer need your personal data, but you need it for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
  • If you have lodged an objection pursuant to Art. 21(1) GDPR (as long as it has not yet been determined whose interests prevail).

If you have restricted the processing of your personal data, this data may - apart from its storage - only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a member state.

Objection to Promotional Emails

We hereby object to the use of contact data published within the scope of the imprint obligation for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising and information material. The operators of the pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam emails.
